Job Summary

Our growing GTA team is seeking to hire a Senior Technology Designer.

Introba is at the forefront of emerging building technology. Whether providing design services for the most cutting-edge building security systems, communication systems or Audio-Visual technology, Introba is regarded as a trusted advisor to clients across industries as diverse as healthcare, intitutional buildings, science & technology facilities and recreation & entertainment complexes and transportation buildings.

The Senior Technology Designer will be an influential figure within our Technology team. Bringing demonstrable experience in building technology design, the Senior designer will support a team of engineers & designers looking for mentorship and guidance.

A clear communicator and naturally gifted in building external relationships, the Senior Designer will relish the opportunity to influence strong performance, growth and success within the technology team and beyond.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

In this role, your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

• Set up and maintain design files.
• Perform calculations on pathway sizing, battery sizing, electrical loads, heat loads, room sizing, grounding.
• Perform complete design on audio visual system which include video distribution, audio distribution, video conferencing, unified communication systems, video production/post-production and associated audio-visual systems.
• Perform complete design on communications system which include requirements analysis, structured cabling, telecommunication plant rooms, utility coordination, pathways, WIFI, coordination.
• Perform complete design on electronic system which include requirements analysis, access control, video surveillance, intrusion alarm, door hardware coordination.
• Understand building codes/bylaws and provide design input accordingly.
• Ensure Introba design checklist is being followed.
• Ensure Introba REVIT Standards are being followed.
• Coordinate requirements with other groups involved in the project design team (i.e. Architects, Electrical, Mechanical, Structural Consultants, Code Consultants, Geotechnical Consultants, etc.).
• Co-ordinate or confirm service requirements/connections with the respective utilities.
• Attend project progress meetings, provide updates for Project Manager and/or PIC (including field reviews to monitor project construction status).
• Attend field reviews/meetings with clients.
• Review/supervise drafting, prepare/review markups.
• Demonstrate experience working with other consultants and contractors, and coordination of major project.
• Maintain client relations.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years REVIT experience coupled with 6+ years design experience in technology systems.
• Provide design expertise and project management to the team as follows:
• Technology design and supervising design staff for the following systems:
• Communication Systems
• Audio Visual
• Electronic Security
• Healthcare Systems
• Smart Buildings
• Ability to read Architectural, Structural, Electrical drawings with minimal supervision.
• Ability to apply prescriptive requirements of technology systems and building services engineering codes.
• Ability to perform accurate detailed site surveys.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills both inside and outside the office.
• Able to “sketch” ideas.
• Able to communicate ideas effectively in meetings with architects and consultants.
• It is likely that you will have RCDD designation.
• P.Eng, CTS, CTS-D is considered an asset.
• Knowledgeable about the BISCI, ANSI/TIA, AVIXA, and CSA standards would be an asset.
