Position Summary
The Production Supervisor (Paint) is responsible for the supervision, coordination, and effective scheduling of workers to meet production targets and quality standards. Responsibilities will include the training of staff in production methods, safety, policies, and procedures, as well as the identification and correction of potential work problems and health and safety issues. In the course of their duties, the Paint Supervisor will prepare a range of reports, and hold responsibilities for the effective budgeting for their area. Through the effective management of targets, goals and production efficiencies, the Production Supervisor (Paint) will ensure the ongoing success of the plant floor.
Responsibilities
The roles and responsibilities of the Paint Supervisor are as follows:
• Supervise, coordinate, and schedule the daily activities for production employees.
• Oversee production organization and workflow.
• Coordinate all activities with team leaders in Paint, Paint Line and Shipping.
• Actively pursue contracts for external usage of paint line.
• Hands-on participation in all shipping and receiving activities.
• Ensuring appropriate inventory levels are maintained for all production supplies.
• Preparing a range of reports, including budget for production and shipping & receiving.
• Delegation of “Quality Checks” to Paint Team Lead.
• Delegation of “Physical Flexible Work Support” to Paint Team Lead during capacity constraints.
• Establish methods to meet work schedules and coordinate work activities with other departments.
• Resolve work problems and recommend measures to improve team productivity, efficiency, and quality control.
• Ensure all team members follow proper safety procedures.
• Ensure tools and machinery are properly used and maintained.
• Develop and modify procedures to increase efficiency.
• Develop and train all production employees in job duties, safety procedures, and company policies.
• Perform other related duties as required
Knowledge & Skills
• Proven mechanical abilities and skilled with hand tools.
• Possess a valid driver’s license.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Leadership ability and team building skills to effectively supervise and lead.
• Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
• Able to find new methods and principles and ability to incorporate them into existing practices as needed.
• High degree of resourcefulness, flexibility, organization, and adaptability.
• Must have the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs.
• Must have strong problem solving, discretion and confidentiality abilities.
• Must be able to push, pull and move equipment and/or supplies up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to distinguish colors.
Experience
• Minimum 3 years’ experience as a foreman or supervisor in a manufacturing environment.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience working preferred in Electrostatic Powder Coating.
• In case of no Powder Coating experience other coatings experiences will be considered (e.g. Thermal Spraying, E-Coating).
• Minimum of 1 year experience working in shipping and receiving, including preparing custom documentation.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, ERP Systems (Procore, Sage would be an asset)
Education
• Completion of college/vocational or technical training.
