Associate Scientist – Biologics Discovery (In Vitro Pharmacology) (14 month contract)

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will join our bioassay team in In Vitro Pharmacology group to discover novel therapeutic antibodies.
The team specializes in the development of custom cell-based bioassays catered for specific scientific needs. We are responsible for the identification and characterization of antibodies with desired functional activity using these assays. The individual will join a team of dedicated scientists to discover molecules that have potential to help patients in need. The position would involve developing cell-based functional assays and screening antibodies to identify those with desired activity and potency. Well-suited applicant will have experience working in laboratory, keen interest in science, and a positive attitude towards working in a team-based research environment.
This is a temporary role with an estimated duration of 14 months. Successful candidates must reside in the Greater Vancouver area.

Essential Functions:
Conduct experiments to develop cell-based assays and screen molecules for therapeutic antibody discovery
Use of laboratory techniques such as: mammalian cell culture, ELISA, flow cytometry, fluorescence imaging
Use of laboratory equipment such as: multimode plate readers, imaging systems, flow cytometers, liquid handlers
Experimental design, implementation, and data analysis/documentation

General knowledge of cell biology, immunology & molecular biology
Experience with mammalian cell culture (primary cell, cell lines)
Experience with using cell-based assay for functional assessment of antibodies
High attention to detail and able to follow written procedures
Strong written and oral communications skills in English
Ability to function effectively as part of a team
Excellent organization, record keeping, and time management skills
