Are you a detail-oriented professional with a passion for precision in payroll and benefits administration? We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our clients team in the Mississauga area in this hybrid role.
Payroll Pursuits
– Take the lead in managing all aspects of bi-weekly payroll for both hourly and salaried employees. Ensure that every payday is not just on time but perfectly accurate, complying with all legislative requirements.
– Dive into the nitty-gritty of payroll calculations and filings, from WSIB to EHT and benefits funding payments. Handle various deductions, including garnishments, taxes, and group benefits.
– Become the go-to expert for statutory deductions and annual reports for CRA, CNESST, EHT, and WSIB. This includes reconciliation and issuing year-end T4’s, T4As, and RL-1s.
– Collaborate closely with the People – Manage and maintain vacation, absence, and entitlement records meticulously using the Dayforce system.
– Create essential payroll reports, such as FTE, overtime, and STD reports, ensuring we have the insights we need to make informed decisions.
– Proactively review and validate payroll adjustments proposed by the People and Culture team, providing valuable feedback where necessary.
– Foster strong relationships with partners at Ceridian, ensuring that issues are resolved swiftly, run special payrolls, and process critical transactions.
– Verify and process employee expenses accurately and in accordance with our company policies.
– Handle inquiries and audits from CRA or equivalent authorities with confidence.
Benefits and Well-being Champion:
– Take charge of the employee benefit plans, from enrollment to updates and terminations. Prepare monthly payment requests.
– Ensure the seamless operation of benefit-related deductions and status changes for employees. Be the first point of contact for employees with benefit questions.
– Manage employee leaves with care, including parental, STD, LTD, and WCB claims.
– Collaborate with the People – Keep a close eye on monthly bills from Manulife and RBC, making sure they’re processed promptly by our Finance team.
About You
– A minimum of 5-7 years of hands-on experience in managing the complete payroll cycle for Canada (required) and the US (preferred).
– Payroll Compliance Practitioner Designation required.
– In-depth knowledge of Canadian federal and provincial payroll legislation, norms, and best practices.
– Familiarity with Ceridian Dayforce will be considered an asset.
– Proven track record of taking ownership of responsibilities with a relentless focus on delivering outcomes, seeking guidance when necessary.
– A collaborative team player with high energy levels, thriving in a dynamic and fast-paced operational context.
– Demonstrated ability to proactively resolve challenges, showcasing a natural aptitude for ownership and accountability.
– Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
– Outstanding attention to detail, combined with strong planning, organizational, and time management skills.
