DRA Global Looking for Senior Financial Accountant at Toronto, Ontario, Canada Full Time

We are currently seeking a Senior Financial Accountant for an 18 month maternity contract. This role will primarily be responsible for ensuring the businesses compliance with IFRS / regulatory and internal reporting requirements. This role requires a strong operational and accounting technical focus in addition to a focusing on delivering high quality management information to the VP – Finance for review.

Main functions (but not limited to) for this role are as follows:

• Manage internal and external Financial Reporting for the USA.
• Prepare Financial Performance & Analysis for internal business unit requirements and corporate office.
• Manage tax filings required for state and federal taxes a across different jurisdictions in the USA.
• Manage cashflows for the USA and intercompany transactions related to the USA business.
• Be the main liaison for any business related to the USA.

Key duties:

• Responsible for ensuring detailed and effective project accounting.
• Responsible for monthly analysis and review of key variances of actuals vs budget and forecast.
• Responsible for preparing monthly forecast, weekly cash flow reports and monthly cash flow forecasts.
• Responsible for the preparation of working papers required for state and federal taxes across different jurisdictions in the USA and main liaison of tax advisors.
• Ensures financial controls, on a day-to-day operational basis are conducted effectively and timeously.
• Ensures appropriate corporate governance and financial controls are applied and maintained, with the intention to improve and maintain internal controls, implementing changes where needed and drive efficiencies to assist with managing financial risk.
• Preparation and/or review accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and bank reconciliations.
• Preparation journal entries for month-end close and analysis of WIP reports for the USA Projects Business.
• Preparation of financial and management reports for the business unit and Corporate.
• Preparation of balance sheet and income statement reconciliations.
• Preparation of confirmations and reconciliations of intercompany transactions including revenue, cost of sales, management fees, debtors, and creditors as well as inter-group loans reported to the corporate office for consolidation.
• Develops the annual budgets in conjunction with the VP – Finance.
• Assists in the continuous improvement and development of system integration and reporting.
• Assists with implementation of improved reporting systems to prevent errors in data collection and calculations. I.e. the automation of processes.
• Understands and applies IFRS rules correctly.

You will have:

• Able to travel to the USA at a short notice (3 times a year)
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
• Experience in Mining, Engineering or Construction companies
• Minimum of 3 years of audit experience.
• Demonstrated financial reporting experience in Canada or USA.
• Thorough knowledge of international accounting principles and procedures and financial management best practices.
