This position has an end date of 3/31/2024 and offers a salary of $22.08 per hour plus a 5% Second Language Premium.
Location – North Campus Edmonton. This role is in-person.

Working for the Department/Faculty
The Global Academic Leadership Development (GALD) program is a professional development program for Chinese university administrators coordinated by the University of Alberta International . Working with the China Scholarship Council, the 3-month program aims to expose Chinese university administrators to Canadian practices in university governance and administration, and to engage them in cross-cultural understanding of innovative approaches to higher education administration in the new global context. The curriculum of the program includes a series of lectures on university governance and administration in the Canadian context, a few series of lectures in Canadian history, Canadian politics and intercultural communication, a self-chosen research project on comparative higher education, and focus group interviews with counterpart university administrators at the University of Alberta.
Position
Working with the International Collaborative Programs Administrator, the two Program Assistants will provide support in the planning, logistics , communications and delivery of the program. The successful candidate will display strong linguistic skills in both English and Mandarin, good understanding about the higher education system in Canada, good knowledge about the University of Alberta and the greater Edmonton area, and a willingness and passion to work as a cross-cultural broker. An ideal candidate would be a graduate student who has good institutional knowledge, strong bilingual skills, and a flexible schedule. This position requires work during regular business hours, and evenings and weekends.
