Job Description Summary
The Interprofessional Program Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of administrative and operational aspects of the Inter-professional (IPE) curriculum within the four-year curriculum of the Medical Undergraduate Program. Provides direction to faculty leadership, and administrative staff at all sites and develops on going relationships with preceptors, Faculty Leaders and our Inter professional partners.
The UBC MD Undergraduate Program (MDUP) is delivered via a distributed model across de Province. This position requires extensive collaboration with the Administration at the IMP (Island Medical Program), NMP (Northern Medical Program), VFMP (Vancouver Fraser Medical Program) and SMP (Southern Medical Program).
The incumbent also works closely with provincial faculty course leads, site directors, curriculum leaders, program staff and other internal and external faculty and stakeholders to ensure seamless and consistent program delivery.
The incumbent must be able to travel independently between the sites, be energetic, flexible, self-motivated, and comfortable with ambiguity and change. This position will evolve and change over time.
Organizational Status
Through the Director of Administration (VFMP), the position reports to the Year 1 & 2 Senior Program Manager at VFMP and takes direction from the MDUP Director of Curriculum, the Associate Director of Curriculum, Years 1 & 2, Indigenous Health Curriculum Lead, Theme Leads and the Administrative Directors (VFMP, IMP, SMP, NMP). The incumbent also works closely with the Program Managers and liaises effectively with faculty, staff, and students across all MDUP sites.

Manages administrative and operational aspects of the IPE Curriculum by:
Consequence of Error/Judgement
Autonomous in regular decision-making; unusual issues brought to the attention of the Director of Curriculum (MDUP). Impact of errors is considerable as incumbent is dealing with sensitive and confidential material. Any errors in decision-making or ineffective communication may compromise the effectiveness of the MDUP curriculum, the UBC Faculty of Medicine and could have negative impacts amongst all stakeholders, and may include withdrawal of teaching services or impact educational experiences of students. Errors in monitoring administrative expenditures may lead to budget shortfalls and a loss of funds. Responsible for building effective partnerships with faculty, staff, students, UBC Health Services, other allied health professions, health authority staff in partner hospitals throughout the UBC distributed sites. Inappropriate action may result in breaches of trust. Tact, diplomacy, confidentiality and excellent interpersonal skills are key skill requirements.
This position must exercise considerable judgment and initiative in decision making, including resolving issues not clearly covered by established guidelines. Scheduling errors could result in loss of valuable physician time, productivity, inadequate planning for key activities, and compromise integrity and growth of the MDUP program. The individual will be required to work independently and will need to exercise judgment in the development of relationships, program development and management. There are areas of this role that will be highly sensitive and impact of error is considerable. It is important that internal and external interactions across all of the provincial sites occur in an efficient and professional manner as the impact of any decisions can have repercussions for faculty, students, general public, staff and the image of the Faculty and University as a whole.
Supervision Received

The incumbent also works closely with the Program Managers and Faculty leads and liaises effectively with faculty, staff, and students across all MDUP sites. Expected to work with minimal level of supervision. Must be able to take initiative and problem solve independently.
Supervision Given
Oversees office staff and temporary staff performing related functions of an administrative nature, and provide direction to program assistants located at other hospital sites and MDUP sites through the province.
Minimum Qualifications
Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline. Minimum of two years of related experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
Qualifications
Supervisory and leadership experience is preferred. Ability to take initiative to address emerging needs.

Excellent interpersonal and diplomacy skills as well as demonstrated ability to work effectively in intercultural spaces, with colleagues and learners who may possess diverse abilities, within virtual and in-person office spaces.
Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and to develop thoughtful and effective working relationships and best-practices with students, faculty, staff and community collaborators.
Cultural awareness of the Indigenous peoples of British Columbia and familiarity with Indigenous communities and the issues they face in regard to the public post-secondary education system and healthcare system;
Experience working with a trauma-informed and equity, diversity and inclusion-based approaches to advance decolonization and Truth and Reconciliation initiatives;
Demonstrated ability to exercise sensitivity, empathy, discretion, and good judgment and to relate to and work with people at all levels; to be diplomatic in stressful situations.
Understanding of and experience applying values of equity, diversity, and inclusion to work processes.
Intermediate to advanced level computer/systems experience required (Zoom, Video-conferencing, Adobe Pro Microsoft Office programs, including Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint and PowerPoint). Experience working with Workday, Entrada and Canvas considered an asset.
Superior interpersonal and management skills required and experience working in complex environments such as health care organizations or universities preferred. Formal meeting facilitation skills required for committee meetings and ad hoc unit meetings.
Excellent oral and written communication and public relations skills required. Ability to exercise high level of diplomacy, tact and discretion when working with information of a confidential and/or sensitive nature and in dealing with various levels of leadership and external agencies.
