Position Description

The Regional Geriatric Program of Eastern Ontario (RGPEO) is a coordinated network that includes a broad range of specialized geriatric services, from hospital to home. The RGPEO strives to be a leader in the provision of:

• Comprehensive, interprofessional geriatric assessment and treatment services in partnership with older adults, their families and the community;
• Education in geriatrics/gerontology to practitioners, students and community members;
• Research into appropriate treatment and service delivery models for older adults; evaluation, advocacy and planning in the development of community services which promote older adult health.

The Program Manager, Education, Knowledge Translation and Research provides oversight for the education programs offered by the RGPEO, leads knowledge translation initiatives to support regional partners in their practice and oversees the research agenda.

Rotation/Shifts

Days, 8 hour shifts.

What You Will Bring

• Baccalaureate Degree in a regulated Health Profession, Health Administration or a related field;
• Registered Health Professional eligible to practice in Ontario;
• Minimum of five (5) years recent geriatric clinical and management combined experience;
• Excellent negotiation, problem solving and conflict management skills;
• Demonstrated ability to be an effective change agent and leader;
• Highly developed teamwork, interpersonal and leadership skills required to manage in a complex organisational structure across the Champlain region;
• In-depth understanding of the principles of adult learning and evidence of past application of these;
• Excellent knowledge of principles of research based practice;
• Excellent oral/written communication and presentation skills;
• Well-developed analytical and project management skills;
• Expected to exercise a considerable degree of judgment and to be self-directed in applying a problem solving approach;
• Must be able to make management decisions reflective of the needs of both community and hospital sectors;
• Well-developed knowledge of statistics and the ability to analyse financial and patient care data;
• Well-developed competence in the use of computers, including MS Office.

You will stand out with:

• Masters preparation in nursing or other related discipline;
• Knowledge of implementation science: ability to design, implement, spread and scale the use of evidence in geriatric care practices.
