In the role of Community Coordinator, Child and Youth Care you will support the Regional Mental Health and Wellness Team in the implementation of various approaches and projects related to the Aboriginal Youth Suicide Prevention Strategy (NAYSPS) as well as other initiatives and programs that support the wellness of young people, at a sub-regional, Nation, and community-based level.
Title: Community Coordinator, Child and Youth Care
Contract: Permanent
Hours: 8 am – 4 pm, Monday- Friday
Location: Syilx or Secwépemc (West Kelowna or Kamloops, BC)
About The Role
As the Community Coordinator, Child, and Youth Care, you will increase the capacity of Indigenous culture and promote youth wellness throughout the Region through initiatives such as health and wellness campaigns.
About You
To be successful in this role you will work within communities and gather information through interactions. Identifying current needs related to youth and child initiatives, and providing input to program leaders. Passion for engaging with people and building relations is vital for this role, as an advocate for community needs/interests you will need to be an effective voice to gain support and drive positive change. Knowledge of the current First Nations health governance landscape in BC will be beneficial to your success in this role.
You have a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Child and Youth Care, or Psychology, plus recent experience in community-based health program planning, implementation, management, and evaluation. You utilize problem-solving and decision-making skills with the ability to adapt and collaborate within your environment. You are able to deal with difficult situations while maintaining performance and professionalism while also seeking support from others when necessary.

As a health and wellness organization, the FNHA has aligned with the Provincial Public Health Order released on October 14, 2021. We have a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy for all employees at First Nations Health Authority. This policy requires all employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. If selected for employment, you will be required to provide proof of vaccination by providing a copy of your BC Vaccination Card Passport with the QR code.
