Senior Accountant: Accounting and Assurance

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plans and prepares year-end financial statements according to the determined needs of the client (for all levels of engagement)
  • Communicates with clients and external organizations to ensure all necessary information is obtained to complete project work, and clients regally throughout an engagement’s lifecycle
  • Prepares individual and corporate tax returns for clients – including T1, T2, T3s, and T4’s as well as their supplementary filings and statements
  • Assists clients with personal tax planning, when necessary
  • Performs quarterly external accounting services for clients, including HST filings
  • Attends to EHT filings, payroll remittances, and WSIB remittances for clients
  • Assists clients with their day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting needs/queries
  • Deals with communication to the CRA on behalf of clients during CRA Audits/Reviews. Ensures the CRA are provided with all necessary information/documentation
  • Attends client sites where necessary to complete client work
  • Assists, trains, and mentors students and junior team members on the client work that is delegated to them
  • Reviews and provides feedback on work completed by junior team members, before finalizing work for review by the Management Group

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Holds CPA or working towards designation.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of relevant experience in a Public Accounting Firm in a similar role
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and client service skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as cohesively with a team, including giving direction to junior team members
  • Must possess a high level of professionalism and integrity
  • Excellent planning, organizational, and time management skills with the ability to multitask.
