Position

Reporting to the Assistant Dean of Development, the Development Coordinator is responsible for assisting in enhancing donor experience, implementing and managing various programs and activities, including donor relations, and developing and managing a creative, school-specific stewardship strategy. The Development Coordinator provides support to Departments that are engaged in leadership fundraising and event-based fundraising, as well as planning and executing donor stewardship and cultivation activities. In addition, the Development Coordinator will ensure the processing of donations and accurate and timely reporting of the School’s advancement activities. The primary objective of the Development Coordinator is to elevate the work of frontline fundraisers and ensure a holistic experience for our donors.

Duties

Stewardship Strategy

• Together with the Development Team, implements a strong stewardship strategy. Supports the stewardship program with regard to cultivation, recognition and stewardship activities.
• Ensures processing of donor gifts, pledges and receipts and manages the daily/weekly acknowledgment letter process for the Dean and Assistant Dean, Development.
• Corresponds with students on behalf of the Dean.
• Communicates and coordinates actions with the Central Stewardship Team.
• Resolves award and stewardship issues with the appropriate offices.
• Coordinates stewardship activities including events with the Advancement team and Marketing and Communications team as needed.

Donor Relations and Fundraising Support

• Coordinates and prepares briefing notes, including analyzing research, drafting notes for review, developing plans for approach of prospects, and preparing subsequent updates based on outcome of meetings.
• Assists in the coordination of fundraising efforts determined by the development team by providing research and administration/communication support to successfully realize individual projects and identified priorities.
• Provides assistance to non-assigned leadership level donors, which involves responding to requests, concerns, and feedback.
• Participates in the development of an overall School of Business fundraising strategy.
• Provides support to School of Business Departments looking to conduct leadership giving campaigns (i.e. Class Giving initiatives.)
• Administers completion of special endowment, scholarship, and bursary documentation, working closely with donors, Departments, Advancement Services and the appropriate Student Awards Office.
• Leads & maintains annual donor recognition wall project ensuring data is kept up to date annually and manages close vendor relations.
• Works with Dean to ensure contact reports from visits/contact with donors/prospective donors is entered into the database.

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum educational requirement is a Post-secondary diploma in Business. Undergraduate degree is preferred but a combination of experience and education will be considered.
• Two to three years of fundraising work experience in a post-secondary faculty environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; awareness of the intercultural aspects of communication is an asset.
• Ability to interact at all levels of an institution, within all levels of academia and among stakeholders of different backgrounds.
• Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
• Proven effective communication in customer service.
• High degree of initiative, independence, flexibility, creativity and resourcefulness.
• Ability to work well as a team in a fast-past environment, with a high volume of work.
• Demonstrated ability to solve problems using sound judgment.
• Computer proficiency in MS Office (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS Access),Gmail, Google Docs and Databases.
• Willingness to travel and work outside normal business hours, as required.
