Blackline Safety Looking for Corporate Financial Accountant at Calgary, Alberta, Canada Full Time

Blackline Safety is looking for a Corporate Financial Accountant to join the Accounting and Finance team. This role is to assist with the management of the rapid growth of the company and is one where a motivated and talented individual can join a developing team in a fast-paced and fluid environment. The position is full-time and is based at our Company’s head office in Ramsay, Calgary.

Reporting directly to the Manager, Financial and Sustainability Reporting, with daily interaction with the Corporate Controller and Vice President of Finance, the Corporate Financial Accountant will be responsible for operational accounting and financial reporting tasks for the Company, including the following key responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare general ledger entries as needed and monthly and quarterly reconciliations in accordance with the quarterly reporting calendar, including developing, completing, and refining balance reconciliations and investigating and reporting on variances to expectation analysis
• Assist with external annual audit process and assist in the preparation of technical accounting memorandums
• Assist in the preparation of corporate and sales tax returns and remittances, including GST and VAT, in a multi-jurisdictional environment including the reconciliation and maintenance of sales tax registrations and filings
• Prepare various corporate accounting reports, analysis and KPIs for internal and external stakeholders
• Assist in maintaining the internal control processes related to assigned areas for the financial books and records of the Company
• Assist in special projects including process improvement identification and implementation, ad hoc financial analysis and other projects as required
• Assist in the preparation of audit working papers and providing all necessary cooperation and support to the Company’s external auditors as may be required in connection with the audit of the Company’s financial statements
• Be an active member of the Finance team; willing to mentor and coach peers, work collaboratively, brainstorm issues, complete ad-hoc requests and be flexible in completing any task

Skills and Qualifications:

• Completion of a post-secondary degree in Commerce, Accounting or Business Administration. Preference will be given to candidates with or working towards a professional accounting CPA designation
• Minimum of 3+ years experience in a similar role, preferably in a public mid-sized manufacturing/technology environment
• Ability to adapt to a dynamic, entrepreneurial and fast-paced work environment
• Ability to work independently with excellent organization skills in assuming responsibility for managing multiple priorities
• Positive attitude and enthusiasm with a focus on providing useful information to make good business decisions in a supportive environment
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to analyze business results, identify and clearly summarize key issues
• Excellent computer skills, including experience in MS Excel and MS Word applications, with a willingness to develop a full working knowledge of the Company’s NetSuite ERP system
