Human Resources Manager
Non Profit – Healthcare Services
Our client is a well established local non-profit organization in the healthcare services sector looking for a Human Resources Manager to manage the daily operations of the HR department, spearhead all organization-wide HR related services, and develop HR strategy for the organization. Experience working in the non-profit sector is preferable, and a strong alignment with their company values, philosophy, and beliefs of helping people, giving back, and making the world a better place is critically important.

This is an office-based role working at their SE Calgary location and reporting to the CEO/Executive Director. As the sole HR professional you are responsible to:
- Manage all HR activities including employment, employee relations, benefits, WCB matters, training and development.
- Lead the employee selection process including interviewing, reference checking and completing job offers.
- Recommend, develop, and schedule staff training and development courses. Maintain a staff summary of completed training courses and provide recommendations and analysis.
- Assist Department Directors in job performance review processes and program design.
- Advise Department Directors on potential risks regarding labour standards and any other HR issues.
- Manage Employee Engagement initiatives including surveys.
- Manage and/or assist in the terminations of employees and conduct exit interviews.
- Coordinate the resolution of specific HR policy-related and procedural problems and inquiries, identify, initiate, and coordinate changes in policies and procedures.
- Assist with investigations into incidents of inappropriate behavior or practices related to employees.
- Act as the Administrator of the company Benefit plan and act as the primary contact for employee queries as liaison between employees and the insurance provider.
- Monitor that appropriate HR documentation and records are kept, including monitoring of personnel files, human resources software database and files.
- Maintain and implement all revisions and/or updates to the Policy & Procedures Manual and to the Employee Handbook.
- Regularly attend company departmental meetings both onsite and/or at multiple offsite locations.
- Provide weekly, monthly, and as needed updates to the CEO/Executive Director.
Qualifications include a Human Resources related education/training plus 5 years relevant HR Generalist experience, with 1-2 years in a management role – Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation is preferable. Also important is strong knowledge of Alberta labour standards, Canadian human rights legislation, Health and safety standards, and Privacy legislation. This position offers a salary of $85-95K dependent on relevant management experience.
