IMMEDIATE SUPERIOR : Head of AM – DYP
STARTING DATE : As soon as possible
Functions
A person who, under the authority of the Director of Youth Protection and his or her delegates, performs the following activities, among others:
Apply the measures ordered by the court or agreed upon in the voluntary measures agreement ;
Meet with parents and children being followed in protection;
Develop and review the intervention plan;
Organize and supervise visits between parents and children;
Write various reports (progress of the situation/closure of the file/for the court);
Accompany families to the required services, make personalized referrals as needed;
Establish the necessary collaborations with internal and external partners in the realization of its mandate;
Complete the clinical and administrative tasks related to his/her duties;
Ensure periods of psychosocial care;
To do replacements and travel to the villages of the Ungava coast.
Qualifications
Must hold a first terminal University Diploma in Human Sciences in : Social Services, Criminology, Psychology, Psycho-Education;
In the absence of an HRO application that meets all the requirements of the position, a candidate with a technique in an appropriate discipline (ex.: social work, special education, delinquency intervention, etc.) may be considered. If a technician candidate is selected, the applicable salary scale will be the one that corresponds to his/her level of education;
Training in intercultural intervention or mediation an asset;
Have a practical and theoretical knowledge of Youth Protection Act and the protection concept;
Have a good experience in assessment and orientation according to the LPJ;
Fluency in French, excellent knowledge of English (spoken and written); knowledge of Inuktitut is an asset;
Ability to adapt to a different culture and environment;
Sensitivity to issues related to intervention in a northern context;
Knowledge and understanding of the main issues associated with the Inuit clientele according to the LPJ and be committed to learning and developing skills related to this intervention in a northern context;
Knowledge and understanding of the stages, processes and benchmarks of normal child development from 0 to 18 years of age;
Knowledge and ability to apply the various approaches used with youth and their families;
Sense of analysis and synthesis and good writing skills;
Ability to adapt and manage priorities;
Ability to work in a team;
Professional, rigorous, autonomous, good listening skills and very good clinical judgment;
Must have a valid driver’s license.
Conditions And Benefits
SALARY : Min.: 947.80$/ 35 hours Max.: 1,679.30$ /35 hours
NORTHERN PREMIUM : 203.66$/week
HIGH COST LIVING PREMIUM : 74.17/ week
RETENTION PREMIUM : 114.99$ / week
Any employee recruited in Québec more than 50 kilometers from the locality in which she/he is called upon to perform her/his duties, will be granted annual trips and lodging unit as per her/his status. Transit or shared house if necessary.
