The Royal Island Hospital has an exciting opportunity for a Casual Medical Transcriptionist to join their team in Kamloops, B.C!
When scheduled, this position works Days, Evenings – 07:00 to 15:00, 8:00 to 16:00, 12:00 to 20:00 and 13:00 to 21:00.
This is a Casual opportunity. Casual means there are no guaranteed hours and work requirements can vary from 0 – 37.5 hours per week. Many careers with us begin with casual employment and lead to permanent or temporary career opportunities.
What Will You Work On?
In this role you will perform a variety of Transcription duties including typing, transcribing and editing dictated reports, clinical notes, forms assessments, letters, etc. using approved transcription and speech recognition software. You will be responsible for ensuring content, grammar, punctuation and format are correct by clarifying inconsistencies with the dictating physician, reviewing reference material or referring to the administrative services supervisor.
In addition you will verify and confirm report information against transcribed reports/ or Healthcare information systems and ensure client record security and confidentiality is maintained. Administrative duties will include retrieval of requisitions and distribution of transcribed reports as well as basic trouble shooting of transcription related software along with supporting general administrative office operations.
What should your application include?
- Certificate in Medical Transcription from an approved institution
- Valid 5 minute Typing test of 60 wpm taken within 48 months from an approved institution (non- supervised tests are not accepted)
