The Accounts Payable Manager is located in Markham, Ontario and typically reports directly to the Director, Finance Shared Services. Their primary focus is full supervision of the Accounts Payable team under the direction of Shared Finance Services. This role will have about 10 direct reports including 2 team lead and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Ensure the smooth running of the Accounts Payable Finance Shared Services function
Lead, support, and coach a team of accounts payable specialist and team lead
Master our AP automation platform – Basware and understand the key interfaces between the different systems
Identify opportunities for improvement and ensure standard procedures are properly documented
Responsible to ensure weekly payments cycle are completed on time. Prepare weekly cash requirements for EFT, cheque and online bill payments
Lead the month end closing process.
Review and process accounts payable transactions accurately and timely, ensuring proper procedures are followed and deadlines are met
Lead the vendor management and maintenance process. Review existing design and identify areas for improvement
Manage the company corporate credit card program
Develop and maintain excellent relationship with internal and external stakeholders. Continuous support and communication will be required
Process various reports, audits, and/or reconciliations including the creation of adhoc reporting monthly, quarterly, annually
Work with auditors with respect to A/P inquiries
Preparation of filing for T5018 Subcontractor payments
Other ad hoc duties and project as required.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
University/College degree in related field including knowledge and understanding of basic accounting concepts
Accounts payable certification (preferred)
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Minimum 5-10 years of experience in a senior level Accounts Payable position
Minimum 5 years of Accounts Payable Supervisory experience
Experience in the Construction Sector is required
Demonstrated management, leadership and motivational skills
SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Sound understanding of general ledger accounts and coding of expense reports
Familiar with sales taxes and GST/HST across Canada
JD Edwards knowledge at the intermediate level is preferred
BASWARE knowledge at the intermediate level is preferred
Demonstrated ability to deal with a variety of people and answer queries in a professional manner
Strong analytical and organizational skills

Flexible team player with the ability to function independently while working in a team environment
Proven ability to accurately handle high volume of transactions, meet deadlines and prioritize workload in a fast paced environment
