Gwaii Engineering is an Indigenous-owned Civil and Environmental Engineering Firm based in Victoria, BC. Our tight-knit and fast-growing team provides civil and environmental engineering services to a broad client base on Vancouver Island and across British Columbia. We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Civil Engineer based out of our Victoria, British Columbia office. This role includes designing and drafting civil projects, coordinating projects, and working closely with developers, First Nations and local governments.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Plans, coordinates and assists on various civil projects for developers, First Nations, and Municipal Governments.
• Prepares design briefs, technical reports/memorandums for review, followed by submission to clients and/or various government bodies.
• Plans, coordinates and assists on various investigation projects.
• Designs and drafts for civil engineering projects.
• Works with Civil 3D design software.
• Prepares proposals, fee estimates and cost estimates.
• Conducts field reviews, inspections and contract administration functions for civil engineering projects.
• Completes proposal and report writing.
• Works collaboratively with the project managers and multi-discipline design teams.
• Completes quality control including drawings, calculations and verification.
• Mentors junior engineers.
• Reviews and seals own projects and/or the work of the others.
• Manages the design and construction of projects and provides input.
• Supports business development activities, including proposal responses and client account planning.
• Travels to site locations when necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
• Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized engineering university.
• 15+ years of relevant industry experience.
• Registered as a P.Eng.
• Thorough understanding of Civil 3D software applications and proficiency in MS Office Suite.
• Ability to deal with competing priorities and manage time appropriately.
• Possess a thorough understanding of codes, legal and design requirements in relevant jurisdictions.
• Must be a leader and able to guide and lead a team of engineers and designers to deliver high quality work.
• Good communication skills are most desirable. Ability to coordinate and communicate with multidisciplinary teams and clients as well as a team working under their supervision.
COMPENSATION
Salary and bonus structure is industry competitive and negotiable based on experience. Relocation allowance and signing bonus available.
