Our client, a top 5 bank, is looking for an Accountant for a 12 month contract in Toronto. This is hybrid role – in-office on Monday’s and Tuesday’s. There is a chance this contract will extend and convert to permanent opportunity depends on performance.
Pay rate: $42.00 / Hour
Working Hours: 37.5 Hours/week, 9-5 Monday to Friday with some flexibility around regular business hours.
Overtime maybe required

Responsibilities
As an Accountant, your duties will include but not be limited to:
- Interacting with the manager’s direct reports. Acting as 2nd line support for the 2 individuals
- Engaging with the hiring manager
- Collaborating with technology teams, business leads, various corporate support areas (Risk, contact centers, etc..)
- Data transformation and analysis of source product system output to create required manual posting to the GL
- Reconciling GL control accounts to source product system output
- Reconciling daily cash settlements between source systems and legal entities
- Investigating and resolving differences between source systems and the GL
- Supporting multiple business-sponsored projects (retail, wealth and commercial products)
- Assessment of project scope and deliverables for impact to financial accounting, reporting and internal controls
- Identifying and submitting business requirements
- Assisting in the development of test scenarios and cases, participate in UAT and BAT
- Assisting in post-implementation validation
Qualifications
- Project experience (Must be able to understand the project scope and deliverables, assess what the financial impact will be)
- 2+ years in an accounting background and working knowledge of accounting systems and processes
- Ability to assess source system architecture, risks and controls
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills – interaction with multiple business partners
- Advanced MS Excel skills / knowledge
- Able to ask what-if questions and interpret who to connect with to get these answers.
- Adaptable
- Strong initiative
Nice to Have:
- Working knowledge of Broadridge RBroker and RTerm applications
- Understanding of broker dealer back office processes
- Banking experience is preferred
- Large corporate environment experience would be a strong nice to have
- Accounting policy knowledge to understand what requirements are required for a project
