WSP in Canada Looking for Construction Manager at Port Hope, Ontario, Canada Full Time

The Opportunity:

WSP is seeking a Construction Manager to join our growing team in Port Hope. This role will give you the opportunity to oversee construction schedules, and manage operational staff, subcontractors, and suppliers. You will lead the projects’ safety and environmental compliance efforts and collaborate with construction disciplines on-site.

This opportunity is to join the WSP team responsible for the execution and construction of the Port Hope Area Initiative (PHAI) with Canadian Nuclear Laboratories. The PHAI represents the federal government’s response to the community-requested solution for the cleanup and local, long-term, safe management of historic low-level radioactive waste in the municipalities of Port Hope and Clarington.

A day in the life:

• Logistics, sequencing, oversight, and execution plans (working with project team).
• Development and maintenance of construction schedule (working with project team).
• Management and leadership of project operational staff.
• Oversee day-to-day operations and activities of the project site.
• Management of subcontractors’ and suppliers’ efforts on project.
• Lead safety, radiation protection, environmental culture and compliance on project.
• Collaborate with construction disciplines, including civil, structural, electrical, mechanical subcontractors and interfacing work packages. Ensures construction work is properly delineated, assigned, and supervised.
• Contributes to technical and project engineering activities (field changes, RFIs, submittals, etc).
• Client and other stakeholder relationship and interaction.
• Contributes to project management, contract administration quality, reporting, commercial, project controls and tracking of the project.
• Collaborates with wider WSP business group (project teams on other active projects in the program).

What you’ll bring to WSP:

• Minimum 5-10 years of experience in construction management within remediation, civil, environmental, or other related construction projects.
• Large scale (>$50M) project experience is preferred.
• Intimate knowledge of construction legislation, standards, and guidelines in Ontario.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, relationship, and leadership skillset.
• Understanding of project management and project controls practices.
• Experience in a highly regulated nuclear environment (or equivalent) would be an asset.
• Demonstrated commitment to Health and Safety.
• Strong ability to interpret and analyze detailed design drawings and specifications.
• Eligible for Reliability security clearance (individual must have 3 full years of verifiable history in Canada, USA, UK, New Zealand and/or Australia)
