Robert Half Looking for Accounts Payable Supervisor/Manager at St. Thomas, Ontario Full Time

Our client is a leading company located in St. Thomas. They are currently seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounts Payable Supervisor to join their finance team and manage a group of 4 accounts payable professionals.

Job Responsibilities:
– Supervise a team of 4 accounts payable staff, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations to ensure the efficient and accurate processing of invoices, expense reports, and other financial transactions.
– Oversee the complete accounts payable process, including invoice processing, vendor management, and timely payments, while ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
– Monitor and reconcile accounts payable transactions and ledgers, resolving any discrepancies or issues in a timely and effective manner.
– Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including the finance department and procurement, to streamline accounts payable processes and improve overall efficiency.
– Review and approve payment batches, ensuring accuracy and adherence to payment schedules and terms, while prioritizing payments according to company guidelines and cash flow requirements.
– Maintain strong relationships with vendors and internal stakeholders, addressing any inquiries or concerns related to accounts payable in a professional and timely manner.
– Prepare and present regular accounts payable reports to the finance management team, providing insights and recommendations for process improvements and cost-saving initiatives.
– Stay updated on industry best practices and technological advancements in accounts payable management, implementing relevant changes and improvements to enhance the efficiency of the department.

Requirements:
– Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
– Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in accounts payable, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or team lead role.
– Proficiency in using accounting software and ERP systems; experience with accounts payable software is preferred.
– Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, as well as a solid grasp of accounts payable processes and best practices.
– Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively.
– Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy in financial data and reporting.
– Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders in a professional manner.
– Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines effectively.
– Familiarity with relevant regulations and compliance standards related to accounts payable processes.
