Product Manager – Abrasives & Welding

The Product Manager is a key role in supporting the development and execution of a product marketing strategy from concept to launch for the Abrasives & Weldingcategory in Canada. This category includes items like abrasives discs, cutting wheels, drill bits & welding consumables. Leveraging Wurth’s dominance in the market, you will drive bold innovation in the category, applying insights from market research, sales, and customers to forge new opportunities for Wurth Canada. You will negotiate with internal and external suppliers with the company’s North American and European purchasing groups, practice full product lifecycle management, keep margins in place, deal with SKU rationalization, and engage in new product introductions.

A Day In The Life Of a Product Manager
- Work as a strategic business partner, internally and externally, with vendors and customers to drive innovation and top-line revenue growth for the product and the category
- Fully understand the category within the Würth global structure, building relationships across the global company to benefit the category in Canada
- Act as theproduct subject matter expert for the company across Canada, building appropriate networks and relationships across the company
- Collaborate with Wurth Canada Division’s (Auto, Cargo, Metal & Construction) to execute Divisional product strategies, launches, and life-cycle management.
- Manage the full lifecycle of the product for the Canadian market
- Ensure strong margins and category profitability
- Negotiate vendor pricing and terms
- Collaborate with the marketing and sales team on promotions, applying informed guidance to the promotion process
- Drive product commercialization through new product development and introduction
- Analyze sales data to find product line gaps, trends, product performance and utilizing that data for present and future forecasts
- Collaborate to spearhead pre-launch activities including the facilitation of sales force and customer training
- Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for product success, and continuously evaluate and optimize product performance by providing insight on key differentiators and messaging.
What You Will Bring To The Team
- Bilingual English/French is an asset
- Experience in product management in related categories
- A background with Abrasives & Welding through work experience or education is a strong asset
- Ability to negotiate pricing with internal and external suppliers
- Strong project management skills and ability to positively engage internal and external stakeholders to drive change and meet project timelines
- Analytical skills to work with relevant data from all stakeholders and units to interpret and create insight
- Skilled at using analytical tools to compile, extract and leverage data, creating pivot tables, graphs and presentations
- An innovative mindset and willingness to challenge the status quo and complacency in dealing with a mature category
- Professional communication with competent presentation skills, capable of organizing data to effectively convey insight
- A self-starter who can perform in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
