The Boundaries Program is a Full-Time Attendance Program which provides a highly-supervised, structured environment to assist youth to address criminogenic factors and to reduce risk. The Program works in cooperation with Youth Probation and Youth Forensics Psychiatric Services to support the youth’s participation in offence-specific treatment. Services are customized to address the individual needs of each youth, while amplifying treatment goals.
Boundaries Caregivers provide supervision, stability and care to one youth at a time. Youth live in the Boundaries Caregiver’s home, and are involved in family life and activities.
Typically, each youth remains in the Program for about 12-months, during which time they attend treatment sessions, as well as school or employment, and are expected to participate in various pro-social activities within the community.
Caregivers assist youth to learn life-skills in the home, and help them to achieve service goals.
Caregivers are fully immersed in the youth’s case management team, which includes Youth Probation and Youth Forensics Psychiatric Services. This provides an opportunity for ongoing communication and service planning.
Caregivers are well-supported by the Boundaries team. The Program employs a Youth Justice Counsellor, who works one-to-one with the youth in the community, and who helps youth and Caregivers to navigate challenging issues. 24-7 on-call support is provided by the Boundaries Program Director.
The base salary for this position is $3975.00 / month plus an additional $29.50 / day when a youth is in the home. Caregivers are also provided with 6-days of respite each month, at no cost.
Training and ongoing professional development is provided.
Applicants should have an aptitude for relating to youth, be willing to work as part of a team, and be open to learning.
Applicants must have a current drivers license, a sound personal vehicle, and adequate space in their home (including a separate bedroom) to accommodate a youth.
Short-listed applicants must participate in a SAFE Homestudy, and undergo Criminal Record Check screening.
