We are looking for an Architectural Designer interested in assisting delivering a project for several transit projects in North America. This is a great opportunity for a passionate and creative mind to take on dynamic and challenging projects and be part of a local transit project that will transform the City. Previous experience working on transit projects and on large scale projects with large, multidisciplinary teams is an asset. The successful candidate will hold a degree in Architecture and will have strong written and verbal communication and organizational skills, with an ability to think quickly to resolve problems in real time and will also have a holistic understanding of the project delivery process.

This role sits within the Global Architecture & Urbanism Division which combines the expertise of IBI’s Buildings and Placemaking practice, our Places’ capabilities, and CRTKL’s multi-sector design leadership to offer a diverse range of solutions focusing on human-centric design, sustainability, and technology.

Role Responsibilities:

As an Intern Architect in the transit studio, your role accountabilities will include:

  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team (engineering, urban design and others) to support the design and construction of rapid transit projects in Canada and the United States
  • Assist in the construction administration phase: general review, site instructions, code analysis, change orders and interpretation of contract specifications
  • Assist with creating and developing functional layouts, diagrams and presentation material of stations and ancillary buildings according to a complex programming for station building requirements including public and service areas
  • Learn new software (Microstation) and be thorough on CAD graphic standards
  • Assist the Senior Architectural designer on other tasks including updating logs and checklists

Qualifications

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum Degree in Architecture Registered Architect or Intern with AIBC or equivalent
  • Experience with design coordination and leading small teams in delivering design packages under supervision of the project architect
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in an architectural firm (strong co-op experience also considered)

The salary range for this position is CAD $80,000 – $120,000 per year.
