JOB OVERVIEW: Maintenance/Projects Coordinator

The Maintenance Coordinator provides project coordination following industry based project management framework principles. (i.e. mechanical, electrical and buildings and construction). This position conducts research and analyzes data [i.e. energy (gas, electricity and thermal fluid) in relation to mechanical, electrical, buildings, construction, practices and standard operating procedures. It also develops, reviews, edits and authors significant documentation (i.e. reports, recommendations, audits, procedures, specifications). In addition, the Maintenance Coordinator evaluates, troubleshoots and provides solutions for various systems (mechanical, electrical and buildings) using scientific and trade instruments, devices and tools. As well, this position develops related project plans, specifications and budgets and coordinates/implements project plans. Within this daily role, the position ensures applicable policies and procedures are adhered to and that exemplary levels of customer service are provided to students, employees, the University community and other internal and external stakeholders.

Education And Experience

  • Diploma in Technology or Systems Maintenance Technician (BOMI) or equivalent qualifications, training and experience, is preferr
  • Several years of experience working with building systems and infrastructure, including but not limited to automation controls, mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and arranging and monitoring contracted service work.
  • Knowledge of project management principles or a PMP designation is an asset.

Qualifications

  • Experience in the oversight and coordination of multiple projects using industry based project management principles and demonstrated experience working with multiple stakeholders is an asset.
  • Proven ability to inspect building systems and equipment with high attention to detail and compile complex and diverse information into accurate, concise and clearly written reports.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct detailed research to determine best practices, compliance with codes and standards, determining maintenance and operating requirements of building equipment and systems, and prepare accurate and detailed written summaries and recommendations.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement projects.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication skills.
  • Demonstrated intermediate level of competency in using spreadsheet and word processing software applications (Excel and Word), email and conducting Internet research.
  • Able to work independently with a minimum of supervision.
  • Able to prioritize workload and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Travel to other campuses as required; valid BC driver license is required.

Salary Information

Annual salary increases are based on hours worked and anniversary dates
