Location: Oakville – hybrid (2 days on-site)
Job Type: 18-month contract
Join a dynamic team as a Database Administrator and play a pivotal role in maintaining and optimizing the database systems. We are seeking a talented individual with expertise in Oracle, MS SQL, and MongoDB. If you have a passion for ensuring high availability, security, and performance of databases, we want to hear from you!
Key Responsibilities:
System Maintenance and Monitoring:
– Ensure the high availability and security of the database systems, primarily Oracle (70%), MS SQL (20%), and MongoDB (10%) deployed on Oracle Exadata and Oracle Cloud.
Query Optimization and Security:
– Optimize queries for efficiency, collaborate with ETL Developers, and implement and maintain robust database security measures.
Schema Creation and Configuration:
– Take charge of creating schemas and configuring applications at the database level to support optimal performance.
System Troubleshooting and Optimization:
– Troubleshoot, optimize, and configure systems post-deployment, focusing on aspects such as storage and retrieval efficiency.
Backup and Recovery:
– Develop and implement comprehensive backup and recovery plans to ensure high availability and maintain data integrity.
Collaboration with Teams:
– Work closely with systems and ETL teams to troubleshoot issues and implement effective database solutions aligned with application requirements.
Ideal Candidate Qualifications:
Fine-tuning Expertise:
– Proven experience fine-tuning databases, with the ability to identify optimization opportunities once a system is deployed.
Quick Learning Ability:
– Demonstrated ability to quickly pick up new technologies, methodologies, and tools related to database administration.
Debugging Skills:
– Experience in debugging systems, performance, and connectivity issues, with a keen understanding of the differences between development and production environments.
