Writing New English program for supporting students with the new Grade 9 destreamed English course
The Ministry of Education provided funds to offer support for students entering the new Grade 9 destreaming program. We are looking at creating an engaging, student-centred, program for targeted students to build their literacy skills, confidence in English, and gain an understanding of the expectations for the new Grade 9 Destreamed English course. Students will be accessing the curriculum via the General Learning Strategies (GLS) course with an English focus for the September 2024 school year.
Position Dates : January 19, 2024 to May 31, 2024
Qualifications
Basic*: Intermediate English Qualifications
Experience*: Teaching Intermediate English (Grade 7-10). Teaching ENG1W or the previous ENG1D or ENG1P an asset.
Duties And Responsibilities
The Curriculum Writing teacher would be responsible for writing the program, as described above. The program would be taught in the school year or in the summer. This resource would be a General Learning Strategies course consisting of diagnostics, lessons, activities, and assessments for students entering Grade 9 in September 2024. The Curriculum Writing teacher will create the resource and share the final draft due to the supervisor In May of 2024.
