General Construction Worker – for Pool Company

Alka Pool Construction Ltd. specializes in constructing high-value poolscapes and has built a very successful business for over 60 years. Alka Pool is looking to hire a general construction worker in full-time positions to grow with the company.

The role of the general construction worker includes providing all aspects of construction in the swimming pool industry at Alka Pool’s various project sites. A successful candidate is a person who is; an effective communicator (verbal and written), problems solves, has a mechanical sense, enjoys physical work in the outdoors, experienced in various aspects of construction (commercial and residential) and has at least 1-3 years experience in construction.

Role & Responsibilities

·                    Swimming pool construction; involving but not limited to PVC/CPVC piping, forming, steel/rebar placement, (Industry specific) placement and general construction duties.

·                    Equipment placement, hookup and piping, site clean up.

·                    Drawing interpertation

·                    Answering to foreman, Project Managers or COO.

·                    Completing timesheet bi-weekly

·                    Completing work orders for project cost plus work & warranty forms

·                    Work requires occassional out of town work for periods of 1-3 weeks at a time.

·                    Duties as assigned.

Skills & Qualifications

·                    At least 1-3 years experience in pool construction/plumbing

·                    Highly organized, long term planner

·                    Knowledge of commercial construction sites.

·                    Must have own transportation to and from project sites

·                    Strong math skills

·                    Ability to read and interupt construction drawings

·                    Excellent written and oral English skills as work language is English.

·                    A positive, can do attitude that thrives in a fast paced envirnoment

·                    Self motivated and works well both as a team member and independently.

Bonus Skills (not mandatory):

·                    Hydraulic engineering knowledge

Own Tools & Certifications:

·                    Hard hat, safety gear: Steel toe safety boots (CSA Approved), visibility vest, etc.

·                    Hand tools

·                    Valid Driver’s licence and own vehicle

·                    WHMIS + WCB First Aid Level 1

Compensation

Competitive, dependent upon on: skills and experience. 

Compensation includes a competitive hourly wage  +40 hrs / week with extended health and dental benefits upon completion of probationary period. Position is full-time work within the lower mainland and on various project sites throughout BC. With proven skills, knowledge and attitude advancement is available.
