Christ The Redeemer Catholic Schools Looking for Educational Assistant (Full-Time) at Okotoks, Alberta, Canada Full Time

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, caring, and committed to students with an openness to learning. Flexibility, patience, responsiveness, cooperation, and strong communication skills will lead to success in this role. Experience supporting students with complex learning profiles is an asset. Preference will be given to those with training and/or experience as an Educational Assistant.

Daily tasks will require a variety of skillsets and responsibilities including but not limited to:

Pursue professional development in areas related to a specific student’s needs

Work collaboratively as a team to implement and adapt the learning plan for the student

Monitor for warning signs related to medical conditions

Learn about the student’s diagnosis and support programming that aligns with recommended strategies, under the guidance of the teacher and learning support team

Support and incorporate fine motor, gross motor, and speech universal strategies with the guidance of therapists, the student’s reports, and the teacher

Under the direction of the teacher, support the adaptation of activities to suit the student’s pace and capabilities

Facilitate independent and group work

Maintain feedback and communication with the teacher and the Learning Support team

Support basic literacy and numeracy skill building with frequent review in and out of the class, as well as life skill education

Provide supervision indoors and outdoors
