About The Job
Kent is hiring a Permit to Work technician to support our long-term commissioning & startup project in Beaumont, TX.
Your Responsibilities
- Promote Safety to all by following (SWP) Safe Work Practices for all activities to be performed.
- Reports to the PTW Coordinator.
- Leads and is responsible for stewarding the complete PTW Process, and PTW staffing for their respective site.
- Interface with HSSE Advisors, PTW Coordinator, Construction Leads, and all Commissioning Supervision to always ensure a safe and environmentally sound job site area.
- Responsible, and attends all (DWCM) Daily Work Coordination mtgs and stewards those mtgs for daily interface between all stakeholders working within the PTW process.
- Assist and stewards the PTW process during Greenfield Construction, Commissioning (Static & Dynamic) and all Start-Up activities of the specific facility.
- Assist in coordination and possible rescheduling of all planned work fronts under SIMOPS constraints by other project stakeholders with the guidance from the PTW Coordinator and (PIC) if needed, and with any execution project team members.
- Responsible for monitoring and assisting in all preparation, planning and execution of all permit to work activities by the site stakeholders.
- Has interfaces with client staffing, Start-Up, Maintenance and Operations personnel, for all PTW activities at their respective site.
- Identifies and resolves permit-to-work issues, and as needed consults with the PTW Coordinator and the (PIC)
- Responsible and assist with the daily PTW Process, and any planned audits as required by policy at their respective job site.
- Site PTW responsibilities/activities include, an organized orderly PTW office space, steward permitting tasks, steward LO/TO guidelines, attend all PTW mtgs, Consult and inform the PTW Coordinator / (PIC) of any HSSE issues that cannot be resolved.
- Steward the workforce utilizing the PTW processes at their respective site that they are diligently and correctly followed by all.
- Assist the Mech, Elect Isolation Techs with the permit processes, including lock outs, isolations, and gas tests are being followed correctly.
- Monitor permit holders that they are compliant with the PTW procedure, and working within the scope of the permits that they hold. Steward and complete all required tracking of PTW documents, including any audits /assessments.
- Assist to revalidate permits prior to submittal, and to ensure that permits have a clear description of the task to be performed and utilizing the correct permit type for the task to be executed, make sure that the permit packs have all the required documentation per procedure for the defined work scope.
Qualification/ Certification
Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:
- College / University degree and/or technical diploma or a min 7+ years of Permitting experience.
- Previous successful PTW experience during Mechanical Completion, Commissioning, and Operations planning phase roles.
- Sufficient / Acceptable knowledge of:
- Project Completion standards, specifications, codes, and appropriate safety criteria, as well as facilities commissioning and Start-Up operations.
- Work Authorization and Work Permits and all appropriate safety criteria.
- Permitting practices, processes, and expectations with respect to work authorization and work permitting during Systems Completion, Preservation, PTW supporting roles during T/A’s, Commissioning and Operations management planning.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks at once with minimal direction.
Skills Requirement
- Proven organizational skills and ability to prioritize higher risks activities
- Sufficient technical skills and judgment.
- Strong understanding of permit work planning, scheduling, and tracking.
- Proven problem solver, results focused, self-motivated and strong customer service skills
- Strong interpersonal skills, possess good communication skills (See communication below)
- MS Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) proficiency required
- Experience with permitting software preferred skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and respond to changing priorities. Ability to prioritize tasks correctly.
- Strong customer service and relationship building skills; ability to interact professionally and knowledgeably with all the project team.
Communication
- Proficient in verbal, written, and good listening skills required.
