Bloomstar Looking for Accountant at Mississauga, ON Full Time

Summary/Objective

This position is responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of company financial statements. You will oversee general accounting, financial reporting operations, cash management, and tax compliance activities. The right candidate for this role is a highly motivated individual with a desire to build on their solid accounting experience and expand their career.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Work with a team of accounting staff to perform daily accounting and treasury functions including transactional accounting, foreign exchange, intercompany accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, collections, and general ledger account analysis
• Reconcile data between operating, POS, accounting, and reporting systems
• Month-end file preparation including financial statements
• Monitor and manage daily cash flow
• Manage and comply with government reporting and tax filings
• Review of general ledger activity ensuring appropriate allocation of revenues and expenses
• Preparation of year-end and audit files
• Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
• Build and maintain Key Performance Indicators
• Communicate and coordinate regularly with Director of Finance
• Various other general accounting and office responsibilities

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance with minimum 3 years’ work experience in accounting.
• Conducting full cycle bookkeeping (AP, AR, Bank Reconciliation etc.) minimum 2 years of experience
• Very strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, able to identify issues, propose viable solutions, and implement appropriate changes.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Continually seeks process improvements and efficiencies; initiates new ideas to increase overall team effectiveness; committed to self-development and sharing best practices.
• Results-oriented and organized, focused on producing high quality work within tight timelines.
• Demonstrates excellent leadership skills, communication skills and high customer service focus.
• High energy team player, with a positive can-do attitude, flexible and adaptable to change.
• Experience with complex accounting systems preferred; proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office required; NetSuite experience a plus.

Work Environment

Office environment with regular desk duties with exposure to:

• sitting at length;
• computer usage requiring manual dexterity for typing and visual concentration on screens.

Expected Hours of Work

• This is a regular full-time position with 40 hours of work in a week.
