About the Role

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Vice President, Facilities Management will be responsible for managing the real estate and construction functions for SNDL group of companies which include a portfolio of offices, warehouses, facilities, and both cannabis and liquor retail locations.

The primary objective of the successful candidate is to secure locations that fit the operational criteria for various retail brands while also managing the real estate and construction department as it negotiates and processes renewals, assignments, store closings and store openings.

Role and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Manage all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the construction, retail leasing, licensing and property management team
• Present real estate opportunities and issues to corporate stake holders on an on-going basis
• Project manage the construction process
• Handle the coordination across multiple teams and multiple markets of new stores’, ensure that they open on time and on budget
• Work with and manage external vendors
• Manage the bidding process to get the best pricing and timing
• Support the expansion of the store fleet throughout different markets
• Advise on the possibility of new designs and how they can be implemented
• Prepare strategic analysis of properties considering financial indicators, market analysis and long-term project plans
• Provide accurate and detailed information, market knowledge and support to other departments within the organization
• Maintain strong relationships both internally and externally with landlord and broker networks
• Create and work within a defined budget

Experience and Qualifications

• 5 – 10 years commercial real estate and construction experience with an established track record of negotiating and securing leases
• A degree in business, economics, finance or related real estate fields is preferred
• In-depth, proven knowledge of retail lease structure and clauses
• Experience working in commercial brokerage or real estate developer or tenant representative would be an asset
• Experience managing a team of real estate professionals
• Proven ability to work with contractors and subcontractors
• Retail construction experience is an asset
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
• Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a background check
