THE ROLE:

Reporting to the Manager, Environment & Regulatory, the role of the Environmental Lead provides support for the regulatory permits required to successfully advance the Wheeler River Project through construction and operation. The Environment Lead will further provide regulatory support for other exploration projects within Denison strategic portfolio. 

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE:

You have a solid background in regulatory permitting, planning studies, and environmental assessments and a track record of success. You have strong leadership and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to work in a team environment to achieve results through others. Additional qualifications and attributes include:

• 7 to 10 years of progressively complex experience in regulatory permitting for resource projects within the mining or natural resource industry.
• A degree in Environmental Science or Engineering or a technical diploma plus experience equivalency required. 
• Professional designation or eligibility to obtain professional designation (e.g. P.Eng, P.Geo, P.Ag) in Saskatchewan would be considered an asset.
• Knowledge of and experience in approvals and permitting for uranium projects under the jurisdiction of the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission and the Saskatchewan Ministry of Environment required.
• Knowledge of applicable provincial and federal environmental legislation, regulations, standards and guidelines to understand application and implementation requirements at each project phase, such as: The Nuclear Safety and Control Act, Environmental Management and Protection Act, the Mineral Industry Environmental Protection Regulations, The Waterworks and Sewage Works Regulation, the Fisheries Act, the Metal Diamond and Mining Effluent Regulations, the Canadian Environmental Protection Act and associated regulations.
• High level of proficiency in office productivity software, including Microsoft Office Suite and SAP, with a willingness to learn and use other technologies and software as required. 
• Exceptional organizational skills with a keen eye for detail and the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities efficiently and effectively.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate, negotiate and influence others. 
• Strong problem-solving skills combined with a continuous improvement mindset to manage performance against key performance indicators and adapt in a dynamic and changing environment.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Prepare and support permitting and license applications for Denison projects.
• Lead the development of application strategies to achieve efficient approval timelines that align with the technical objectives of the project.
• Work collaboratively with technical teams and proactively identify opportunities to streamline permitting processes.
• Communicate with the Saskatchewan Ministry of Environment on approvals, permitting and future compliance requirements for Wheeler River.
• Provide expert technical input and guidance on the application of regulatory and permitting requirements for a uranium mine and processing facility in northern Saskatchewan.
• Support budgeting and scheduling for the environment and permitting team with a focus on continual improvement and optimization to meet Denison’s timeline for construction and operation.
• Support engagement activities and participate in meetings with Indigenous communities and the public on key areas of interest applicable within the environmental effects and regulatory approvals.
• Support the development of the environmental monitoring database to support permit reporting requirements.
• Prepare and coordinate annual compliance reports for submission to Federal and Provincial regulators.
• Remain current on changes to regulatory requirements to understand how they apply to or impact the progression of approvals, development, and operation for current and future projects.
• Perform other duties as assigned.         

This role is being offered as a full-time position and will be based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, on a standard Monday-Friday schedule. The role will require occasional travel to project sites located in the Athabasca Basin.
