Since 1978, MetroWorks has helped thousands of people overcome obstacles and realize their employment and educational goals. From its beginnings as a pioneer in community based economic development MetroWorks has continued to evolve and remain relevant to the needs of our community. Over the years the mechanism for delivering our programs has changed. We have entered and exited businesses. We have added and modified training programs. We have adapted to remain in tune with changing economic and societal needs. However, we have always remained true to our founding mission. Currently, MetroWorks is active in our community through our Options Work Activity Program, The Cunard Learning Centre, The Edge Program, The ReADY Program, The Radicalized Newcomer Women Program, The Common Roots Urban Farms, the Mobile Food Market, MetroWorks Employment Services and Stone Hearth Bakery and Catering Services.
Position Summary
The Employment Support Specialist is responsible for carrying out the employment related services offered through the MetroWorks Employability Program for Racialized Newcomer Women. This includes helping newcomer women create employability plans that incorporate language, learning and employment goals. The position also plays an important educational role, preparing and delivering employability workshops both online and in person. Building relationships with employers to facilitate supported employment opportunities is another key aspect of the position.

Qualifications
Individuals considered for this position must demonstrate a strong commitment to working with racialized newcomer women and have a combination of education and work experience that validates their ability to work with participants and meet project expectations and guidelines. A University degree along with related work experience is a must. A valid driver’s license, access to a reliable vehicle, and a clean criminal record check would also be a requirement.
