The position operates:
- Monday – Friday
- 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
- Out of our Head Office – 688 Josephine Street, Wingham, ON
Position Summary:
The HR Generalist must embody the values and vision of Britespan supporting the organizational culture. This role will support all divisions, leaders and employees within the Britespan family by aiding in understanding company policies, procedures, recruitment support, benefit administration and other HR related administrative support.
Responsibilities:
- Develops and maintains robust knowledge of company policies, procedures, benefit and pension programs, wage scales and other aspects of day-to-day operations
- Maintain knowledge in Employment Standards in all provinces and states Britespan operates
- Aid in the roll out of policies / procedures
- Research local labour market information and wage scales for recommendation to senior management
- Interfaces and collaborates with all divisions and departments
- Act as the first point of contact on HR related inquiries and requests from employees
- Assist Leaders with the administration of the day-to-day HR operations, functions and duties
- Provide efficient, solutions-oriented support to leaders and employees in responding to inquiries on all aspects of Human Resources
- Provides education to others on the objectives and details of Human Resources programs, systems and processes
- In conjunction with Leaders, create detailed job descriptions and realistic job previews ensuring an understanding of responsibilities, cultural fit, prerequisites and business requirements
- Support all Britespan divisions in workforce planning, recruiting & retention, orientation & onboarding, performance management, talent development & management, and compensation & benefits
- Establish and maintain orientation and on-boarding practices and communication tools
- Assist in administering annual performance reviews
- Review and track performance management system
- Assist with terminations through documentation and counsel to leaders
- Administration of benefit and pension programs
- Administration of WSIB claims and return to work programs
- Filing / record retention & updating, leave of absence administration and training documentation management
- Support KPI’s through development and documentation
- Support the organizations safety programs and goals
- Embody and promote the values of Britespan
- Other duties as assigned
Position Qualifications:
Education & Knowledge
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources
- Working towards or completion of CHRP designation – asset
- HRPA Member – asset
Skills
- Strong customer service skills and mindset
- Attention to detail, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to balance multiple priorities
- Perform efficiently in fast paced environment
- Highly organized, analytical and able to handle multiple tasks
- Demonstrates consulting, prioritization, influencing, and planning skills
- Transferable skills such as effective communication, drive for accountability and results, time/organizational management, collaboration and teamwork
- Exposure to Smartsheet – asset
- Intermediate computer proficiency (including Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
Experience
- 2+ years in an HR generalist role
- 2+ years administrative / customer service experience
- Experience in recruitment & retention, training & development, and policy / procedure development & roll out
- Experience in conflict resolution
- Experience working within Human Resources with confidential information
Communication
- Excellent Oral and Written communication
- Effective interpersonal, written and verbal communications
