Surrey Schools has modified the Job Classification of Education Assistant to Inclusive Education Support Worker effective July 1, 2023. This role requires certified EAs to complete district required training as a condition of employment. This training will be provided to the candidate, pending job offer.
Do you want to work supporting children and adolescents with disabilities, diverse abilities, and educational support needs? IESWs collaborate with teachers, counsellors and school administrators in support of learner success and work closely with the classroom teacher to assist with designated aspects
IESWs are required to be available Monday-Friday for a variety of school and district office assignments, and will be eligible to apply for internal positions as they become available.
You could be asked to work in any one of our schools or district offices, reaching all borders of Surrey and White Rock.
All successful applicants are required to join the CUPE Union Local 728. As per the CUPE collective agreement, the starting wage for this position is $33.04 per hour with an attractive benefit package also available. This role will see a pay increase effective July 1, 2024.
Although responsibilities vary from site to site, the IESWs duties within the school setting include, but are not limited to: collecting data for tracking student progress, providing personal care assistance with dressing, toileting, feeding and/or mobility (such as lifting), and fostering independence through social interactions and supporting adaptations to help the student work at a meaningful instructional level.
Education and Experience
Successful completion of an Education Assistant Diploma/Certificate program from a recognized institution or equivalent combination of education and experience
