POSITION PURPOSE:
Reporting to the Supervisor HR Consulting/Senior HR Consultant, is responsible for supporting Recruiters and HR Consultants and client Departments with a variety of recruitment services, including reviewing and posting internal and external job postings, scheduling candidate testing and interviews, checking references, and responding to hiring managers questions on the Region’s recruitment policies, practices and procedures.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides assistance to Recruiters/HR Consultants on recruitment requests and daily recruitment activities; provides information related to recruitment policies, practices and procedures.
  • Reviews and posts internal and external job competition postings.
  • Invites candidates for interviews and testing; liaises with external testing agency to arrange software testing; assists in administering and monitoring testing components, as required.
  • Prepares interview packages and ensures distribution to each member on the interview panel; conducts interviews for junior level positions, as required.
  • Liaises with external testing provider for scheduling applicant testing and obtaining results.
  • Provides input on recruitment policies and procedures and recommends new policies and procedures, as appropriate, in order to meet client Department’s particular needs.
  • Responds to internal and external applicant inquiries relative to postings and advertisements; refers to appropriate staff, as appropriate.
  • Updates the Region’s Career Line on a weekly basis.
  • Maintains various spreadsheets, as required.
  • Assists Recruiters/HR Consultants with various clerical functions by booking boardrooms, making photocopies, sending faxes, maintaining supplies, scheduling meetings, drafting correspondence, etc., as appropriate.
  • Participates in various HR related projects and work groups, as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned, in accordance with Branch and Department objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Successful completion of a Post Secondary Diploma (1 year or more) in Business Administration or related field or approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience in a Human Resources environment, including some recruitment experience.
  • General knowledge of relevant Employment and Human Services legislation, acts and regulations.
  • Knowledge and understanding of a unionized work environment
  • General knowledge of current HR practices, procedures and theory related to recruitment and selection.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office software applications and an HRMS system, such as Peoplesoft.
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated ability in core competencies regarding: customer service, teamwork, initiative/self management and accountability, and flexibility/adaptability.
