Job Description
The Capital Markets and Factor Investing Department (CMF) invests assets globally in public equities, fixed income securities, currencies, commodities, and derivatives, and manages the engagement of investment managers and co-investments in public market securities.
The Investment Engineering & Analytics group (IEA) within the Capital Markets and Factor Investing (CMF) department develops and manages a data and analytics ecosystem for CMF strategies covering a wide range of asset classes. The ecosystem includes foundational data sets, investment signal construction processes, and analytical libraries and tools for constructing and analyzing portfolios.
We are recruiting for an Analyst in the IEA team. In partnership with a diverse team of professionals, IEA seeks to ensure CMF has the analytical tools and robust infrastructure required to support its portfolio management and research activities.
As An Analyst In IEA You Will
- Develop and maintain a robust portfolio construction and risk analytics platform used to monitor and manage a complex investment portfolio.
- Model investment programs using a variety of portfolio construction and risk models, including RiskMetrics and Barra.
- Maintain and update position and exposure information, market data, and P&L results.
- Assist in the management of existing investment data for investment programs across CMF.
- Improve the existing data platform and assist in the build out of new infrastructure, with the aim of enabling users to easily access and use our data.
- Prepare portfolio review and risk reporting packages for the Investment Committee and Senior Management.
- Special projects and other duties as assigned – must be comfortable pivoting as priorities shift in a complex and dynamic environment.
Qualifications
We look for candidates that have a track record of academic success while balancing extracurricular activities, a strong interest in the financial markets and portfolio management as well as effective communication, interpersonal and relationship building skills. In addition, the most successful candidates combine energy, enthusiasm, and intellectual curiosity, with a demonstrated interest in investing.
- A recently completed undergraduate/graduate degree in a quantitative discipline: Math, Engineering, Computer Science, Economics, Finance.
- Passion for Investment Management and Financial Markets in general
- Strong quantitative, problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Programming/scripting experience using Python (and associated stats libraries), R, Matlab or Java
- Experience with Risk Engines is helpful (RiskMetrics, Barra, Axioma, or a similar)
- Demonstrates our Guiding Principles of Integrity, Partnership and High Performance
