Job Description

You will work as a Lead Business Analyst in Trading Technology, Public Market Technologies team, partnering with CPPIB’s traders, investment professionals and operations staff to design and implement solutions enabling trading and post trade activities. Successful candidate will be experienced in working closely with the business to gather and document detailed requirements and help iteratively provide solutions.

This position requires someone with high attention to detail, strong sense of creativity, ownership, integrity, and strong analytical & problem-solving skills. The candidate is expected to possess working knowledge in Capital Markets, coupled with the ability to translate business requirements into solutions while working with engineering.

Role-Specific Accountabilities

  • Support the delivery on enterprise-wide initiatives through application of business analysis tools and techniques. Proactively identify issues involving workflow procedure and processes, identify opportunities for improvement, implement solutions, automate, and innovate.
  • Facilitate requirements gathering sessions. Document and validate expectations with subject matter experts and drive the creation of strong system specifications that enable the development and/or acquisition of appropriate systems to meet business requirements.
  • Collaborate with business & technology stakeholders to understand priorities, product roadmap, existing system and integration environments, and new business requirements to drive progress towards established objectives.
  • Liaise with engineers, solution architects and business subject matter experts to brainstorm, develop and document innovative solutions alternatives. Evaluate alternatives relative to business requirements and provide advice that is rooted in deep subject matter expertise.
  • Participate in process design meetings and translate outcomes into process documentation. Conduct process walkthroughs and validation with business subject matter experts. Document key risks, mitigating controls, performance measures, cost drivers and business continuity plans for processes.
  • Lead and mentor a team of business analysts and drive priorities to achieve the necessary business outcomes.

Qualifications

Skills/Knowledge/Competencies/Capabilities

  • Undergraduate or equivalent work experience.
  • 8+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, working directly with the business and engineers to build complex solutions in the financial/investment industry.
  • Ability in capturing business and data integration requirements and preparing the technical specifications for the Engineering team.
  • Ability to adjust communication style to present technical and non-technical information to a wide variety of stakeholders.
  • Agent of change and continuous improvement in business processes and solutions.
  • Work closely with Engineering team to develop and validate test cases to ensure the accuracy and completeness of solutions delivered.
  • Experience with Agile Scrum/Kanban processes, and work management tools: JIRA, Confluence
  • Experience working with relational database.
  • Previous work experience with traders and investment professionals would be a strong asset.
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities.
  • Able to deliver in a constantly changing and fast paced organization.
  • Other duties as required.
