Newlook Capital Looking for Accountant, Financial Reporting (Entry Level) at Burlington, Ontario, Canada

Role and Company Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Accountant. This role offers an excellent opportunity for recent graduates or individuals looking to kick-start their career in accounting. The successful candidate will work closely with our Financial Reporting and Accounting team to support financial reporting activities and contribute to the overall success of our organization. Newlook Capital is a private equity firm located in Burlington that currently manages two industry-specialized funds. Current holdings include dental practices in Canada, and industrial services in Canada and the United States. Each fund has its own focused, experienced, and aligned management, and a defined strategy. 

Responsibilities: 

• This role will report directly to the Assistant Manager of Financial Reporting.
• Assist in the preparation of Fund financial statements under IFRS and ASPE.
• Prepare and maintain various schedules and ensure completeness and accuracy of data.
• Prepare monthly and year-end adjustments and entries required to close off general ledgers.
• Work with and assist external auditors to ensure reporting deadlines are met.
• Assist in the implementation and maintenance of financial reporting systems and processes to streamline operations and enhance efficiency.
• Stay updated on accounting standard updates and create and assist memo’s as needed.
• Work with Operational Finance Managers to provide technical accounting guidelines to ensure proper treatment of complex accounting issues.
• Support other ad-hoc projects and initiatives. 

Qualifications and skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business.
• Working towards obtaining a CPA designation.
• General understanding and knowledge of accounting principles; ASPE and IFRS.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Someone who enjoys a challenge and wants to expand and improve current knowledge and skills.
• Prior internship, co-op, or work experience in accounting is considered an asset.
