Role Description
This is a contract remote role for a Mortgage Underwriter. The Mortgage Underwriter will be responsible for analyzing and evaluating mortgage applications, reviewing financial documents, assessing creditworthiness, and the execution of residential mortgage files.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Adjudicate and evaluate residential mortgage applications, adhering to established guidelines
- Establishes and maintains positive relationships with clients
- Maintains positive relationships with external partners such as lenders, appraisers, lawyers, and accountants
- Interacting with our clients for the collection of all required documents to satisfy mortgage commitment conditions
- Perform risk analysis and complete appropriate due diligence
- Find solutions to deals that don’t fit traditional lending parameters
- Reviews and verifies accuracy of required documentation related to income, down payment and the property using sound due diligence and in compliance with internal and regulatory guidelines prior to signing off on any mortgage conditions or documents, where applicable
- Organizing and collecting the appropriate documents in a clear and concise manner attached with notes submitted to the mortgage underwriting system
- Responds to all inquiries within established turnaround times
- Adhere to policies/procedures to ensure anti-money laundering requirements are met
Qualifications
- Previous experience of two to five years within the mortgage industry as a residential mortgage underwriter
- Ability to assess credit risk with knowledge of rules and regulations regarding risk related mortgage laws
- Strong customer service focus with the ability to grow and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Experience with Filogix and Finmo/Lendesk
