Position Summary

Reporting to the Manager, Health Information Management, you will be an active team member, in a multi skilled multi-disciplinary environment. This position is the first point of contact for most of our patients and your skills as a Brant Community Healthcare System ambassador will prove invaluable. Personal commitment to place the patient’s best interest first and foremost in service provision with a commitment to confidentiality of all information related to patient care.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Providing inbound and outbound call processing for a high volume call centre
  • Dispatching of emergency response teams
  • Monitoring of BCHS alarm systems and providing appropriate response
  • Providing Lifeline Response, cashier functions and reception for the BCHS
  • Chart assembly, including filing of loose reports and physician mail
  • Distribution of patient information, through manual and technical means, while maintaining the integrity of all data
  • Other duties as required

Education Requirements

  • Secondary School Diploma
  • Successful completion of Medical Office Administration/Clerk Program

Mandatory Qualifications

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word and Excel
  • Previous experience with Meditech
  • Keyboarding and data entry proficiency- 50 WPM
  • Previous multi line console experience in a healthcare setting

Effective September 7th, 2021 all applicants must provide proof of two doses for full vaccination against Covid-19 (in the form of watermark receipts from the provincial portal) or provide written proof of a medical or religious reason for not being fully vaccinated as per Organization Policy, Covid-19 Immunization and Management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Successful completion of Medical Terminology Course
  • Previous Health Records experience an asset
  • Understanding of Universal Code System is an asset

  • Excellent attendance record
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure in emergency situations
  • Must be available for all three shifts, weekends and statutory holidays.
  • Able to handle all physical demands
  • Safety (patient, worker & workplace) is a BCHS Corporate Priority. The successful applicant will demonstrate good stewardship in the identification, reporting and mitigation of unsafe acts or conditions.

Preferred Competencies

  • Reliable individual with excellent attendance record and able to work all shifts

Physical Demands

  • Excellent physical health i.e. bend, lift, walk, carry, pull, kneel, and push, with the ability to maintain a high standard of performance. Periods of lengthy sitting, intensive visual concentration and use of VDT 75 percent of a shift worked
