AUDIT MANAGER

A client of ours, a very well reputed, mid sized Accounting firm in Downtown Toronto, is looking for an Audit Manager, to join their team on a Hybrid work arrangement, with 1-2 days a week in office depending on the time of the year.

Position Summary:

Managers are responsible for managing simultaneous assurance and advisory engagements including: planning, conducting, staffing, and reviewing, as well as maintaining client relationships. You will work with a team of staff in servicing our existing client list, while helping to drive the growth of the firm through annuity (repeat) business.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Client:
• Builds relationship with client staff at management level, and becomes a year-round contact point
• Has a good knowledge and understanding of client’s operations and their business, recognizing key performance drivers, business trends, and emerging technical and industry developments
• Provides value-added consultative services to existing clients as opportunities arise
• Recognizes sales and cross-sales opportunities with existing clients
• Participates in business development and promotion activities
• May begin to development a business development network

• Operational/Technical
• Senior file preparer: may plan and perform procedures in relation to audit, review, and compilation engagements, including preparation of financial statements
• Senior tax preparer: may prepare tax returns (T1, T2, T3, etc) of hard difficulty
• Reviews files and tax returns
• Responsible for following-up with clients and getting work in the door
• Analyzes and documents problematic situations, and presents possible solutions to engagement lead
• Supervises more junior staff
• Reviews and analyzes WIP, and prepares invoices
• Plans, supervises, and monitors multiple engagements
• May collaborate on internal projects or processes (ex:scheduling, workflow)

• Learning and Growth
• Assists in recruiting, training, and professional development of more junior staff
• Coaches more junior staff
• May act as a mentor for more junior staff
• Develops general business knowledge
• Focuses interest, and identifies an area of expertise to pursue (ex: service line, industry niche)
• May complete additional qualifications or designation (ex: CFP, CBV, etc)
• Participates in performance management system as an evaluator (30+ and annual evaluation)

Qualifications:

Education

CPA or equivalent professional designation

Experience

Minimum of 4-5 years of public practice or equivalent experience, preferably in a mid-sized accounting firm
