Native Child and Family Services of Toronto Looking for Registered Early Childhood Educator at Toronto, Ontario, Canada Full Time

Range: $24.84-$32.41 per hour

Summary

Primary Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Supervisor, Early Years Programs, the Registered Early Childhood Educator will:

• Develop and implement appropriate early learning programs for children ranging from 0 to 12 years of age.
• Follow an emergent curriculum, incorporating ELECT framework and Indigenous framework.
• Availability to work 7am- 6pm and or including availability to work a split shit- 7am-10am and 2pm-6pm
• Delivering early learning services to parents and children, such as literacy and interactive learning activities to help ensure that children are ready to learn and to make it easier for them to transition to school.
• Planning, developing and implementing programs that contain stimulating activities for infant, toddler, preschool, kindergarten and school age children, including field trips and special events.
• Promote the physical, social, emotional and intellectual well-being of children in all activities.
• Maintain accurate reporting, statistical data and documentation of children’s development and interactions based on Ministry standards and NCFST policies
• Support children of various abilities with their daily routines, play and interactions
• Provide staffing coverage to maintain quality care.
• Maintain communication with parents/caregiver through various means of communication- incident reports, and Lillio childcare parent app.
• Build positive relationships with children, families and fellow staff members.
• Assist with classroom housekeeping
• Complete general administrative tasks, such as playground inspections and health reports, program attendance records, cleaning logs.
• Ensure that the legislated health and safety standards are maintained at all times.
• Be available for location reassignment to any of the NCFST Early Years sites.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills

• A Diploma in Early Childhood Education and in good standing with the college of ECEs.
• A current Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) and a willingness to obtain a new one upon hire.
• Up to date immunizations.
• Current Infant/Child CPR and Standard First Aid Certificate.
• Knowledge of Early Learning Framework, provincial and municipal policies.
• Knowledge of the unique dynamics that exist within the First Nations, Inuit, and Métis cultures.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, organizational skills and respect for confidentiality.
• Demonstrated understanding, and commitment to, integrating the Native Child and Family Services of Toronto Mission and values in to practice, service and relationships.
• Demonstrated understanding of workplace health and safety practices and understanding of an employees’ responsibility under current legislation.
• Ability to work effectively, with all levels of staff, to maintain effective communication and working relationships, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills, tact, sensitivity and ability to build strong internal relationships.
• NCFST requires all employees, contractors, students, and volunteers to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, absent of a valid medical exemption or other reasonable consideration pursuant to the Human Rights Code of Ontario
