Qualifications/Requirements:
Full Vaccination against COVID-19 is a precondition of new employment. A successful candidate offered employment at Seabird Island Band will need to provide proof of full vaccination prior to commencing employment. Exemptions are permitted under applicable SIB COVID vaccine policy.
Social Services diploma/degree and minimum of 3 years working in relative field
Knowledge of First Nations family issues and ability to work with First Nations families
Computer literacy in MS Office and other data management computer programs
Knowledge of basic budgeting and accounting practices
Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
Ability to build a strong relationship with staff and clients
Ability to balance competing priorities and to work under pressure
Highly flexible, and detail-oriented
High professional and ethical standards
Excellent organizational, time management and prioritizing skills
Knowledge of the Sto:lo culture, traditions and language would be considered an asset
Satisfactory Criminal Records Check
Valid class 5 BC driver’s license and reliable transportation
Primary Responsibilities:
Team Support:
Create a safe and effective work environment for the team
Ensure that staff have the supports they require to deliver programs and services
Maintain healthy professional boundaries with staff and clients
Motivate and engage staff and develop job assignment and workloads
Identify gaps in services and bring the information to the attention of the Child Protection Program Manager
Work in cooperation with child protection team to develop and implement the program
Work as a team member of the Health and Social Development Dept.
Administration – Client/Program Records:
Complete program forms promptly and professionally
Maintain professional and accurate client service records
Maintain an up-to-date filing system
Administration – Programming:
Submit a monthly report of activities to the Program Manager
Consult with the manager on work plans and services
Submit monthly budget and development sheets to finance department
Ensure staff completes required paperwork required for program objectives
Attend scheduled team meetings with the Child Protection staff members and other meetings as requested by the manager and director
