We work across Ontario with engineers, building owners, mechanical and sheet metal contractors in both commercial and industrial settings.

We are currently looking to hire an Accounting Clerk to join our growing Accounting Team in our Ottawa location. This is a full-time and permanent position.

As the Accounting Clerk, you will be reporting directly to the Controller, and will be fully responsible for managing, recording, and corresponding with the day-to-day accounting functions within our accounting cycle. In addition, you will be working closely in developing strong professional relationships with our customers, vendors, and fellow colleagues.

What are you responsible for in this role?

• Cash flow management; Managing from beginning to end the process of setting up vendors, receiving, reviewing, and inputting all vendor invoices, credit memos and issuing payment for goods purchased and received.
• Reconciling and following up on vendors invoices to ensure accurate quantities and amounts indicated as per O’Dell’s purchase order.
• Setting up customers, creating customer invoices, issuing customer credits, managing discrepancies, and delinquent accounts.
• Preparing and entering banking transactions as per bank statement, daily deposits, and monitoring cash flow balances regularly.
• Reconciling, preparing, and completing mandatory government remittances (HST AND WSIB) according to remittance schedule.
• Processing biweekly payroll in accordance with O’Dell’s policy and procedures for various locations.
• Reviewing all employee’s monthly expense reports and issuing payments accordingly.
• Other accounting or administrative tasks as required

Do you have what we need?

• A College diploma in Accounting, Finance, or Business.
• 3 to 5 years of Accounting or bookkeeping work experience.
• Solid verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to work independently or in a team environment.
• Problem solver with close attention to detail, task oriented and analytical.
• Advanced skills in Excel with ability to manipulate large amounts of data (ie. Practical experience with IF, pivot tables and vlookup) is an asset.
