Next Structural Integrity Inc. Looking for Bookkeeper/Accounting Clerk at Burlington, ON Full Time

Next Structural Integrity Inc (NSI) is an engineering consulting firm that helps the world’s largest operating nuclear facility to continue its safe and efficient operation of generating 30% of Ontario’s electricity. We are experts in advanced engineering modelling and analysis, and to operate efficiently, we are seeking an energetic, positive and personable individual to fill the position of Bookkeeper/Accounting Clerk working in Burlington ON.

The Bookkeeper/Accounting Clerk will provide support to NSI’s management team working 40 hours per week. Salary will depend on qualifications and experience.

The ideal candidate must work well independently or as part of a team and able to work with people at all levels within the company as well as external customers. Onsite work from Burlington, ON.

Key Responsibilities and Requirements

• Perform payroll functions in an accurate and timely manner, and submit payroll taxes
• Full-cycle monthly bookkeeping services utilizing Quickbooks Online for clients including reconciliations, monthly financial statements and other required reports

• Conduct reconciliation of all accounts on an as needed basis
• Perform all activities related to the accounts payable function including reviewing, coding, and processing payments
• Perform account receivable functions including invoicing, deposits, collections, and revenue recognition
• Prepare financial reports through collection, analysis, and summarization of data
• Interpret and apply accounting policies, rules, and regulations to all work in order to ensure compliance with applicable standards
• Provide accounting and clerical support and assistance to the Office Manager
• Processes and entering invoices, expense reports and other financial transactions into the company accounting system
• Processes customer invoicing and credits as required
• Prepare cheque and EFT runs to ensure employees, contractors and vendors are paid as directed
• Analyzing and preparing bank deposits
• Prepares periodic bank reconciliations
• Prepare quarterly GST/HST sales tax reports
• Processes employee expense reports and credit card statements
• Compiles and prepares financial reports for management as directed
• On-going collection of outstanding Accounts Receivables
• Assists with year-end accounting duties as required
• Maintains records by accurately filling all accounting related paperwork
• Supports the Customer Service Team as required
• Performs other work as assigned by the Office Manager or other senior management staff Key Skills/Competencies
• Has a solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and Canadian accounting principles
• Must be tech-savvy and have hands-on experience with a working knowledge of Quickbooks
• Demonstrated Intermediate level Excel skills
• A team player who has a can-do attitude, a common-sense approach, and a sense of urgency to see tasks through to completion
• Must be organized, enthusiastic and professional who is self-motivated, flexible, adaptive and works under minimum direction with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail ensuring accurate paperwork
• Excellent time management skills and can effectively manage competing priorities ensuring work is completed within expected timescales
• Confident communicator, with excellent written and verbal English communications skills. Knowledge of written and spoken French would be an asset.
• Must be able to handle sensitive and confidential information
• Effective problem analysis and problem-solving skills Software
• Minimum 3 years of proven Canadian bookkeeping/accounting experience in a business-to-business environment
• Relevant Bachelor’s Degree or College Diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field

The knowledge and skills required would normally be acquired through the successful completion of a university degree in an appropriate field and a period of typically 5 to 10 years of relevant experience. Candidates with expert level skills and experience will be considered at a higher level, with a compensation package commensurate with this experience.
