Mercer Equipment & Excavation Looking for Labourer Foreman at Waverley, NS Full Time

Mercer Excavation is a Maritime-based construction company. We specialize in Demolition, Remediation in the Environmental industry for residential and industrial construction. The company has earned recognition for undertaking large-scale complex projects.

• Starting at 25+ an hour
• 4 year Project

A Foreman will provide immediate “Supervision” to ensure “safe execution” of Construction Activities by utilizing previous experience, technical and safety knowledge while working.

Labourer Foreman will be expected to do but are not limited to the following tasks:

• Perform front line supervision for 3 to 8 workers (Assign daily tasks)
• Assess the crews’ readiness at the onset of each shift
• Participate & conduct annual Performance Management reviews for the personnel within area of supervision
• Ensure crew members are paired properly to maximize efficiency and safety
• Interview personnel regarding training received (Ensure they have the proper training prior to tackling new tasks)
• Execute the project schedule
• Perform daily work site inspections monitoring safety and quality of work
• Report all daily progress utilizing Site Docs
• Follow the Construction Execution Plan while executing work activities
• Regularly communicate work progress, schedule variance, crew, and safety performance to the General Foreman
• Meet and review any issues or items out of scope with the General Foreman
• Prepare and submit daily timesheets on behalf of the crew and provide them work instructions
• Prepare a daily toolbox meeting and deliver to the crew at the on-set of daily shifts
• Sign off on the Summary Close-out form

Minimum Requirements :

• Minimum of 3 – 5 years of experience
• 1+ years in a supervisory capacity (as a Lead hand or Foreman)
• Confined Space Entry
• Fall Arrest and/or Fall Protection (OSSA issued ticket is the general requirement)
• Valid Government Issued Identification
• Knowledge of shoring in excavation

• Slope and banking
• Knowledge of working with concrete
• Transportation to worksite
