Description

Goss Auto Parts Ltd. Is seeking a CAD design engineer to join our expanding product development team. We are looking for a motivated and talented team player who thrives in a dynamic environment. Said individual would have a propensity to develop new ideas, refine existing designs and see these various aspects into fruition. This position will primarily focus on the development of products through computer aided design software, specifically Solidworks, but other daily activities would include all aspects of the product development cycle. This includes idea generation, concept development, physical prototyping, 3D scanning, rendering and reiterative product development.

Responsibilities

• Primary responsibilities include the digital development of 3D product part and assembly files in Solidworks
• Development and detailed creation of drawing/blueprints including all necessary information, following internationally recognized standards and procedures
• Creation of 3D mesh files from real-world parts utilizing the latest 3D scanning technology
• Design and development of 3D product renderings from working files and the subsequent explanation of design choices, features, advantages etc. to colleagues and potential customers
• Development of physical prototypes to test and refine product design in-situ
• Creation of graphics, banners, brochures and other marketing materials using Adobe suite
• Creative concept and idea generation for the implementation of new products, product lines or access to burgeoning markets

Skills and Qualifications

• Formal education in either Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Automation or another applicable field is necessary
• Proficiency in 3D design software, preferably Solidworks is required
• Knowledge of technical drawing standards a strong asset, including but not limited to GD&T standards, their application and interpretation
• Strong sense and understanding of various production and manufacturing processes, their strengths, weaknesses and relative production costs a necessity
• Physical prototyping skills and understanding of techniques a strong asset
• Strong visual and communication skills including verbal, visual (sketching, illustrating, rendering, photographing)
• Experience and understanding of the Adobe software suite and Microsoft Office applications
• Experience and working knowledge of 3D scanning technologies and their affiliated software
• Motivated self-starter with strong organizational and time management habits necessary
• Spanish secondary language skills an asset
• Refined workplace soft skills

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $50,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
