Hello, we’re Digital Chaos, we are looking for an experienced Web Developer. We are looking for a talented individual to join our team to help us continue our over 25-year history of building awesome websites and digital projects.
As our new Senior Web Developer, the work you’ll be doing will be dynamic and will require your technical expertise with both front-end and back-end technologies. This role requires a high-level of familiarity with developing custom WordPress websites and the LAMP stack.
Your primary responsibilities will be to build new websites, perform website maintenance (core files, plugin updates etc.), and execute ongoing style and layout updates to websites.
Digital Chaos operates fully remote, though all our employees are located within Canada. All our communication, processes, and workflows are tailored to a remote working environment.

Primary Responsibilities!
- At Digital Chaos, Senior Web Developers often take on the role of Lead Developer on medium and large-scale projects. Your role as Lead will be to facilitate team interaction by providing effective communication.
- As an experienced developer, you will create advanced solutions that have great code quality, expandability, and follow modern best practices.
- Together with your Production Manager you will be responsible for discussing and analyzing specification documents to refine requirements and estimate time, propose solutions, and assisting with task delegation on projects you are leading.
- You will be responsible for managing your own time, assigning and directing work to your teammates ensuring all deadlines are met and escalating concerns to the Production Manager when necessary.
- Perform work reviews and quality assurance checks on your own work as well as your teammates before any internal or client reviews.
- Ability to clearly communicate technical components and project plans to Account Managers and clients.
- Ensure your knowledge is up to date by staying on top of industry trends and emerging technologies.
- When time permits, take part in research and development initiatives, with the understanding that client projects come first.
- As a mentor, you will have the chance to assist Junior team members with advice and quality assurance.
Be prepared to talk about:
- Your understanding of front-end technologies, HTML, CSS/SCSS, JavaScript
- PHP (Laravel) and LAMP-stack technologies
- Databases, like MySQL, Postgres
- CSS frameworks, Bootstrap, Tailwind
- Web animation experience, using CSS transitions or libraries like GreenSock
- Opensource CMSs, like WordPress or Drupal
- JavaScript frameworks, like React or Vue.js
- Experience working with REST APIs
- Creating fully responsive websites and components based on supplied designs
- Working with modern web design programs, like XD, Figma, or Sketch
- Wire-framing, site mapping, and usability testing
- Creating cross-browser compatible sites that follow modern accessibility and security standards
- Knowledge of standard backend and DevOps systems and procedures
Must have to qualify:
- Web portfolio or links to relevant completed projects
- Proficient in HTML, CSS, and LAMP stack
- Canadian resident or citizen
- Strong in English communication, spoken and written
