Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Senior Accountant provides financial support through preparing and maintaining records, files, and processes to enable smooth and compliant financial operations. The Senior Accountant’s main responsibilities will include the full cycle accounting, month end closing, handling account reconciliations, general ledger entries, payroll and preparing various reports for external and/or internal requirements.

Job Duties:

• Manage Month-end reporting to the Director of Finance and senior management.
• Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger through the preparation of monthly and quarterly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts and ad hoc analysis as required. Participate in the quarterly balance sheet review process as instructed.
• Prepare subledger and bank account reconciliations.
• Assist with the cash forecasting and monitoring of the company’s cash position.
• Manage month-end closing process which includes preparation and processing of journal entries including recurring entries, preparation of reporting and analytics, reconciliations, etc.
• Provide support in the detailed review of the financial results by understanding variances through investigation and follow up.
• Update and send out cost center reporting to cost center owners.
• Work with budgets, forecasts and provide analysis of budget to actuals results.
• Manage monthly, quarterly and year end corporate reporting of income statement, balance sheet, & key metrics.
• Work with sales team to generate client invoices.
• Process and maintain AR and cash receipt transactions.
• Assist with year-end reporting requirements, including tax returns.
• Accountable for the fixed asset accounting which includes (but is not limited to) maintaining internal orders, updating the fixed asset register, preparing the monthly reconciliation to the general ledger, preparing audit schedules, and investigating open projects with stakeholders (on a regular basis).
• Ensure conformity of data, i.e., GrowCo’s ERP system, proper supporting documentation; assist in establishing and securing proper internal controls.
• As required, prepare period financial reports and financial models for analytics.
• Initiating Regular Inventory counts.
• Prepare CRA monthly reports, commodity tax returns and assist with internal & external audits.
• Identify areas for process improvement as well as internal control deficiencies within the Finance department and the company. Implement process improvement changes.
• Document & implement new procedures &/or processes that mitigate internal control deficiencies.
• Additional duties as required.

Requirements:

· Must have a post-secondary degree or diploma in Business Administration or related field.

· 3-5 years of related work experience with full cycle accounting.

· Attention to detail and ability to multi-task is a must.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Flexible and able to work effectively as a team player.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Accounting designation preferred (CPA, CGA, CMA).
• Strong English communication skills required, verbal and written.
• Strong initiative, organizational, and time management skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with accounting systems (Dynamics/NAV preferred).
• Advanced skills in using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
• Overtime as required.
